Mastering German Cruisers in World of Warships: The Key to Success

When it comes to playing German cruisers in World of Warships, there are a few key skills and modules that can make all the difference between victory and defeat. One skill that often gets overlooked is Fire Prevention, which may seem counterintuitive at first glance.

For those who don't know, Fire Prevention reduces the fire chance by 7%, but it's not as simple as just subtracting that percentage from the overall fire chance. Instead, it multiplies the fire chance by 0.93, so if a hypothetical shell has a 10% chance of fire, it will then have a 9.3% chance of fire.

But what does this mean in practice? In reality, Fire Prevention is not as useful as you might think, especially when combined with other skills like Demolition Expert. The latter adds a flat 3% chance of fire, which can be a significant factor in battles. For example, if you're playing the Roon, you'll find that it's a tough opponent to take down, and even Hindenburg-like battlecruisers require careful strategy to defeat.

One recent experience I had with the Baltimore against a Hindenburg-like ship was particularly memorable – or rather, unmemorable. The first salvo took out my 1st turret, followed by the second salvo which destroyed my 2nd turret, and before I knew it, I was saying goodbye (gg). It was a humbling experience, to say the least.

In any case, when it comes to building your German cruisers, Fire Prevention is not a skill that's worth investing in. Two points for this skill are essentially wasted, especially when you consider how the reduction is calculated.
